Nadolig 2023 – Making

One of the small pleasures of Christmas is the feeling that you have created something unique for your home. Something special and bespoke.

And one of the easiest ways to do this is to make your own wreath for your door or garlands for your home.

The good news is that this desire has led to an increasing number of wreath making workshops that help you to decorate your home, in your way. And give you a skill that will last for many Christmases to come.

Searching for wreath making workshops near you will return a whole host of places and companies offering the service. Though the standard and aesthetic varies wildly, so it’s good to get a sense of what the result will be like and whether it suits your style before you book.

Here are just a few of the places that are offering workshops this Christmas. We haven’t been able to personally check them out but perhaps this will whet your appetite and inspire you to find a great workshop near you.

Tredegar House, Casnewydd/Newport

Tredegar House, a National Trust Property, is running wreath making workshops with Lucy Coco Floristry on the 1st and 3rd of December. Lasting a couple of hours and costing £55 the emphasis is on luxury rustic. Check it out here

The National Trust, Throughout Wales

Beyond Tredegar House the National Trust run wreath making workshops in many of its properties so it’s worth just checking the one that’s closest to you. Their website is also bilingual.

Wilde Posies, Caerffili

Wilde Posies are an alternative florist in case you want something a little more dramatic. They are running Luxe Christmas wreath making workshops from the end of November. And they are going to be Wilde! They also have a range of stunning pre made wreaths here.

CowShed Flowers, Clanfield

CowShed specialise in garden flowers grown in the UK, many of which are from the immediate vicinity of Clanfield. They have now released their wreath making workshops for December and you can find out more here.

John Lewis, selected stores in England and Scotland

John Lewis has wreath making workshops across many of their stores and on dates right across the Christmas season. They cost £29.50 for an hour’s workshop and are taking place in Oxford Street, White City and Brent Cross stores in London as well as Glasgow, Leeds and Southampton. Sadly they don’t have anything happening in the Dewi Sant store in Cardiff. Perhaps next year.

Secret Garden Florist, Caerdydd

Secret Garden are good friends of Goodwash and return with their Christmas wreath making workshops in December. They take place at Insole Court in Llandaff, on the 2nd and 10th December.

Forbesfield, Y Barri

This is one of our favourite florists full stop and right here in Barry too. Full disclosure, Their Christmas Wreath making workshop has sold out but who knows, if enough of us pester Beth she might put on another. In any case it’s worth bookmarking Forbesfield for next Christmas.

Your Home, Anywhere

Of course, you can do the whole thing yourself. The Woodland trust have a lovely page about foraging for and making a simple and natural Christmas Wreath including a video with step-by-step instructions.

Good luck and remember that we would love to share your creations on our Instagram and in Papur Da email a photo to us info@goodwash.co.uk.
