THE GOOD LOTION + HAND MASK DIY

It’s a little too easy to neglect our hard working hands when they’re always so busy. We take time out of our day to care for our hair, our faces and our skin, but hands are often left to fend for themselves.

No matter what the weather, our hands need looking after. Blistery, cold weather can dry out your hands just as warm, sunny weather can, and it doesn’t take much to reverse the damage. Searching out products that contain hydrating, natural ingredients is the best way to keep healthy hands and nails.

Every Goodwash bottle of lavender, patchouli and rose geranium hand lotion  is full to bursting with natural goodness that works to keep your hands looking healthy and youthful no matter the weather.

We use two of nature’s most hydrating oils, almond and olive, to leave hands feeling soft and supple, and compliment this marvellous duo with nourishing shea butter. The trio works to provide, and retain moisture whilst fighting against signs of ageing as all three are high in vitamin E, which promotes skin elasticity.

As hypo-allergenic and gentle sources of hydration, almond oil and shea butter are often used as soothing remedies for eczema and psoriasis as both oils are also anti inflammatory in nature. This makes them a wonderful addition to a hand lotion to treat dry and often sore hands.

The aloe vera in the hand lotion is also an incredible source of hydration and also promotes healing, and alongside shea butter, almond, and olive oil, is high in age fighting vitamin E. We have supplemented these powerful ingredients with equally powerful essential oils to not only leave your hands smelling wonderful, but also for the oils’ healing and restorative abilities.

Lavender, patchouli and rose geranium essential oils have all been used throughout history as natural ways to combat bacteria and infection. These oils are antimicrobial and help remove bacteria from the skin and nails. They’re also anti-inflammatory, working with the olive and almond oil, and shea butter to relieve symptoms of irritating skin conditions.

We recommend keeping a bottle of Goodwash hand lotion in your desk drawer, especially for those extra stressful days. Lavender, patchouli and rose geranium essential oils are known for their mood boosting and calming abilities, so take a moment and give yourself a mini massage to clear your head.

To give your hands the treatment they deserve, why not pamper them with an easy and relaxing hand mask?

You will need;
1 x pair of winter knit gloves
1 x pair of surgical/first aid gloves
1 x tablespoon Goodwash hand lotion

Scoop half of the tablespoon of lotion into one hand and cover your hand, making sure to cover the nail and nail beds as well. Once coated, carefully pull on the surgical glove before pulling the knit glove over the top. Repeat for the other hand.

The latex of the surgical glove traps the heat coming from your hands, allowing your pore to open, and absorb as much lotion as possible. This is then amplified by pulling on the cosy winter gloves.

Leave on for as long as possible to give your hands as much moisturising time as possible. Whilst you’re sat relaxing, why not light a few frosted lavender soy candles, and treat your hair to a conditioning treatment with some hydrating lavender, rose geranium and argan oil Goodwash conditioner. If your hands are in some serious need of hydrating, keep the gloves on overnight for an intense repair.

When you’re done with your hand mask, remove the gloves and massage the remaining lotion into your wonderfully pampered paws.
