VEGAN HOT CHOCOLATE RECIPE

At Goodwash, we believe in making the world a better place. Whether that’s through our non-profit charity https://goodwash.co.uk/philosophy/ or through our blogs giving people little tips on how to get the most of life.

We also believe in making it better for those who can’t speak for themselves, and we are firm supporters of animal rights, and ensure that our products, and products we endorse, are cruelty free.

So we decided to bring you a list of vegan hot chocolate recipes to warm your stomach, and your soul.

BASE VEGAN HOT CHOCOLATE RECIPE
Makes 2 servings

2 cups almond milk, unsweetened
1 tsp arrowroot starch
2.5 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 cup dark, vegan chocolate roughly chopped
1 pinch sea salt
1 tsp vanilla extract

Whisk together the brown sugar, arrowroot starch and sea salt until completely combined. In a sauce pan, bring the almond milk to a gentle simmer before adding the vanilla and the chocolate, and the dry ingredients. Stir gently until the dry ingredients are totally mixed through and the milk is just beginning to boil.

Take off the heat and serve with your favourite vegan mini marshmallows.

ORANGE VEGAN HOT CHOCOLATE

Follow the basic vegan hot chocolate recipe, but find yourself two extra ingredients:

Zest of one medium-large orange
2 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice

As with the basic recipe, whisk the dry ingredients together, and leave to the side. Zest your orange, and squeeze out the fresh juice. As you did before, put the almond milk into a saucepan with the chocolate, but instead of adding vanilla extract, add the zest and the orange juice.

Once the milk has begun to simmer, add the dry ingredients and stir well until the milk is just beginning to boil.

PEPPERMINT VEGAN HOT CHOCOLATE

Follow the basic vegan hot chocolate recipe, but find yourself one 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract, and add at the end to get a sweet, seasonal treat.

GINGERBREAD VEGAN HOT CHOCOLATE

Follow the basic vegan hot chocolate recipe, find yourself one half a teaspoon of cinnamon extract, half a teaspoon of ginger extract, and half a teaspoon of clove extract to add at the end. The delicious flavours will have you diving head first into the festive season.

Once you’ve got your delicious hot chocolate, whatever flavour you’ve chosen, put your feet up and enjoy yourself. At Goodwash we like making big batches of the gingerbread hot chocolate and inviting friends over  to enjoy the Christmas spirit together. To set a mood of comfort and cosiness, practice some Hygge and light a few candles. The festive season is the perfect opportunity to pick up a few frosted lavender soy candles from our Goodwash product page.
