Golden Milk, a natural remedy used to a relax and calm the body and the mind, has been used for centuries. Based on the traditional health value system, Ayurveda, from India, Golden Milk is a natural and delicious remedy that not only encourages sleep, but also has direct benefits to gut and joint health.
The key ingredient in the milk is the all powerful turmeric root. Rich in colour, turmeric contains an important and very helpful active ingredient called curcumin.
Curcumin aids in improving the immune system, and is a powerful anti-inflammatory. This is not only beneficial for joint pain, it’s also a great way to settle your stomach before laying down for the night.
With the combination of the fat from the milk (whichever you chose), and the peppercorns, the curcumin is absorbed easily into the body, allowing you to reap the benefits of this wonderful root.
Golden Milk Sleep Aid Recipe
(Makes two serving)
2 cups of your milk (we recommend unsweetened almond milk)
2 tsp organic turmeric powder
2 black peppercorns
2 cardamom pod
½ teaspoon of organic nutmeg powder
½ cinnamon stick
¼ vanilla pod
2 tsp organic local honey
Pour milk into saucepan and put on medium low heat
Crush cardamom pod and add to milk
Scrape contents of vanilla pod into milk
Add cinnamon stick into milk
Add turmeric, nutmeg and peppercorns to the milk
Cover the saucepan and leave to simmer for ten minutes to steep.
Strain milk, add honey and enjoy before bed (perhaps whilst enjoying a relaxing foot soak)
Whilst you sit back and sip on your Golden Milk, we recommend thickly applying Goodwash
conditioner to your tresses. After applying, wrap your hair on top of your head with cling film, and cover with a towel. The clingfilm will help retain the warmth from your skin and the towel, giving you luxurious, salon standard locks whilst you prepare yourself for a wonderful night’s sleep.
