Barry, not just any Island.

Good wash was born in Barry (or Barri if speaking in native tongue). It is where we made our very first products, and a place we love very much.

But its far more than a nostalgic ‘kiss me quick’ seaside resort or a destination on every Gavin and Stacey fan’s bucket list. Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan is fast becoming a fashionable place to stay, eat, drink and of course wash.

Infact, last month the Telegraph described the Vale of Glamorgan as one of the ‘poshest places’ to live in UK. we don’t know about that, but its certainly absolutely lovely. Here are our highlights.

Goodsheds

Situated in the centre of Barri, Goodsheds is a wonderful mix of the best street food, bars and independent shops including an excellent drive thru coffee shop.

We love how dog friendly it is, the amazing fresh donuts, frothy milkshakes, incredible souvlaki and some of the best independent craft beers in the rooftop bar. Some of the stores, including our own, are in container boxes while others are in original train carriages transformed into indie stores.

As ever, we would love to welcome you to Goodwash in the Goodsheds, we are open 10am to 5pm, Wednesday to Sunday.

Good beaches

Four award winning and dog friendly beaches and island fun park is only a stones throw from Goodsheds.

Jacksons Bay is a quiet cove perfect for paddle boarders, early morning paddlers and evening moon rising bonfire circles. Whitmore Bay is the iconic beach for Barri hosting some gorgeous coffee, ice cream and pancake beach huts. Whitmore is also home to the SWYD GB triathlon held at numerous dates ariund the seasons, details here.

If you head this way check out our socials for our criws favouite places to eat. Like Bay 5 Coffee, Marcos Coffee (opens early morning) and Gios Gelearia.

Just around the corner of Whitmore is the Old Harbour Beach. Sadly water pollution has made it inadvisable to swim at Old Harbour, but it’s gorgeous for a beach walk and to sit on the harbour’s edge at high tide watching the sunset.
