GOOD DIY SUNBURN REMEDY

The ‘scorchio’ bank holiday weekend has had our nation basking in sun along our award winning blue flag beaches.

From Barry Island to Barmouth, Whitmore Bay to Whitesands, Aberporth to Abersoch (and so forth), it certainly does feel as though summer has officially arrived.

Whatever takes your fancy, walking the welsh coastal path with your furry bestie, mountain biking, paddle boarding; or simply gardening and chilling in the sun with a nice chilled bottle of Sancerre… it is still important to look after your skin.

Despite using sunscreen this weekend some of us may end up with a little sunburn. We have mixed up a highly effective DIY natural sunburn remedy to help you soothe the burn, and quicken the healing process (can also be used on children over the aged of 6)

INGREDIENTS

  • Coconut Oil (1 Cup)
  • Aloe Vera Gel (½ Cup)
  • Lavender Essential Oil
  • Peppermint Essential Oil

HOW

Add 1 cup of the Coconut Oil to your mixing bowl.  Add 1/2 cup of Aloe Vera Gel. Add 20 drops of lavender essential oil and 20 drops of peppermint essential oil and mix together.

Once the mixture is smooth and lump free, let it cool to room temperature. Then continue to mix until a soft white creamy texture. It will look good enough to eat but don’t. Store in a container and use as totally ‘gorgys’ body cream or lotion. Apply with gumption and drink lots of cold water.

Lavender essential oil has been used for thousands of years as a natural remedy to treat burns and reduce scarring. We use Welsh lavender oil as a thread through all our products, due to its amazing natural healing qualities. To further reduce risk of infection and burn pain add peppermint oil in the mix. When choosing Aloe Vera try and look for a natural gel as possible to help stimulate healing.

Our Goodwash Company Hand Lotion ‘Hufen Dwylo’ is not only sourced from the finest natural ingredients from our land and sea, but we have based all our ingredients on essential oils that bring unique benefits to your skin, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Olive Oil, Welsh Lavender all work to cleanse, nourish and revitalise your skin.
